Toronto Welcomes Stopwatch Media, a Bold New Unscripted TV Venture

A new non-fiction production company, Stopwatch Media, has launched in Toronto. The venture comes from a partnership between The Mediapro Studio and producer-showrunner Charles Wachter. Wachter will take the lead at the company, which plans to create premium formats for audiences worldwide.

The announcement follows The Mediapro Studio's push to grow its global operations, now spanning 53 production hubs across multiple continents. Wachter brings a strong background in reality television to his new role. His credits include Million Dollar Secret, which returns for a second season on April 15, as well as Beast Games, Got to Get Out, and the Netflix series Win the Mall. The Mediapro Studio has highlighted his experience in developing high-quality original formats.

Pam Healey, head of unscripted content at The Mediapro Studio U.S., praised Wachter's ability to deliver standout programming. JC Acosta, director of the studio's U.S. division, added that the focus will be on bold, globally appealing unscripted shows. The company's existing network includes facilities in North America, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region, with a growing presence in Asia.

Stopwatch Media will operate out of Toronto but aims to produce content for both U.S. and international markets. The partnership marks another step in The Mediapro Studio's expansion, reinforcing its position in unscripted entertainment.

Wachter's new company joins a broader infrastructure that already covers key markets in the Americas and beyond. While exact facility numbers outside Europe remain undisclosed, the studio's reach continues to grow. Stopwatch Media will begin developing projects under Wachter's leadership. The company's launch aligns with The Mediapro Studio's strategy to strengthen its global footprint in unscripted content. Wachter's upcoming work will include both new formats and returning series like Million Dollar Secret.
