Top-tier muscle builders of Jersey showcase their might, balance, and commitment
The UKBFF (United Kingdom Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) organised the Channel Islands Wellness and Physique 2021 competition at the newly-refurbished Opera House on Sunday. The event was sponsored by BodyRox gym and attracted a number of talented athletes from across the region.
Dylan Ford was one of the standout performers of the day, taking home first place in the Classic Physique category and second place in the Junior BodyBuilder category. Following his win, Ford expressed his delight, stating, "It feels absolutely amazing to be a winner." He also revealed his plans to spend the next two years growing muscle and aiming to compete again.
In the Master BodyFitness category, Virginija Mazintiene was the deserving winner. Meanwhile, Hayley Burrows impressed the judges in the Wellness category, securing first place and the title of Overall Women's winner. Burrows was overjoyed with her achievement, stating that it made "all the little sacrifices worth it."
Luc Langlois, another talented competitor, won the Overall Mens winner title, first place in the Junior Bodybuilder and Bodybuilder over 90kg categories, and the Bridge finals in two weeks. Langlois used the same routine as when he competed 10 weeks ago and was pleased to have "good to get a win under my belt" before the Bridge finals. He also expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating that it was "nice to win something in my last competition of the season."
The competition was judged based on muscle quality, body symmetry, stage presence, and the athletes' ability to pose. Other winners included Masimba Nyamajiwa, who was awarded Best Posing, Debora Cardoso, who won Master Bikini 35+, Ecaterina Angheluta, who took home Bikini Beginners and Bikini Open, and Tracy Le Bail, who was awarded Master Bikini 40+. ChelseaLea Stokes was also awarded Fit Model.
BodyRox gym expressed their gratitude for the positive feedback received about the event, with many attendees praising the organisation and atmosphere of the competition. The UKBFF Channel Islands Wellness and Physique 2021 was a success, with many talented athletes showcasing their hard work and dedication to the sport.
Hayley Burrows and Luc Langlois are set to compete at the British Championships and the Bridge finals respectively, with both athletes no doubt hoping to replicate their success from Sunday's competition.
