Michael Cromie Steps in as Scottie Scheffler's Caddie for BMV Championship

Scottie Scheffler, the current leader of the season points standings and two-time Masters winner, will have Michael Cromie as his caddie at the BMV Championship. This change comes as Scheffler's regular caddie, Ted Scott, was absent due to a family issue during the tournament.

The BMV Championship, one of the three Cup playoff events, takes place at Caves Valley Golf Club in suburban Baltimore. Scheffler, who was third last week with Cromie as his caddie, hopes to continue his successful run with the experienced caddie by his side.

Cromie, a former accomplished amateur golfer, has built a respected career as a professional caddie on the PGA Tour. He played college golf at the University of Georgia, earning All-SEC and All-American honors in 2014 and winning the prestigious North and South Amateur at Pinehurst.

Cromie transitioned into caddying and has been notably the longtime caddie for PGA Tour winner Chris Kirk since 2020, including helping Kirk secure two victories, the 2023 Honda Classic and the 2024 Sentry Tournament of Champions.

In August 2025, Cromie served as the fill-in caddie for Scheffler at the BMW Championship—part of the FedEx Cup playoffs—when Scheffler’s regular caddie, Ted Scott, was absent due to a family issue. Cromie’s caddying contribution helped Scheffler win the tournament, earning Cromie a substantial $360,000 bonus from Scheffler’s $3.6 million prize.

When Ted Scott returned for the Tour Championship shortly after, Cromie stepped back from caddying for Scheffler but remains recognized as a valuable and experienced figure on the PGA Tour's caddie circuit.

Meanwhile, Chris Kirk missed out on the top-50 cutoff for this week's tournament. This unfortunate turn of events frees him up to work with Scheffler at Caves Valley, potentially providing an opportunity for the pair to collaborate and build upon their past successes.
