Legendary rock band Black Sabbath bid farewell to their fans with a final concert in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. The event, known as the Back to the Beginning festival, was a poignant moment for the band, especially as it marked the last performance with their iconic frontman, Ozzy Osbourne.

However, the news of Ozzy Osbourne's death just a week later on July 22, 2020, came as a shock to the band and the music industry. Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76, had been battling Parkinson's disease, which was the cause of his death.

During the rehearsals for the final Black Sabbath concert, Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne shared old times and had laughs, despite the singer's health condition. Ozzy would sit down, sing a few songs, and then leave, as attending every day of rehearsals proved too much for him.

Tony Iommi, the band's guitarist, was in disbelief when he heard the news of Ozzy Osbourne's death. He recalled that Ozzy didn't look well during rehearsals but was determined to perform in the final concert. Iommi shared that Ozzy "really wanted to do" the concert, and his determination was evident throughout the rehearsals.

Iommi had received a text from Ozzy Osbourne the day before his death, which added to the sense of loss when the news broke. Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife, announced his death in an emotional statement on Tuesday.

The Black Sabbath bandmates who reunited for the final concert were Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler. The concert was a fitting tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away surrounded by his family.

Ozzy Osbourne's death was a significant loss to the music industry, and his passing was mourned by fans and peers alike. His spirit, however, lives on in the music he created with Black Sabbath, a testament to his enduring legacy.
