Tomsk's Duma Meeting: City Administration's 2024 Report Accepted

In a nearly three-hour-long special session of the Tomsk Duma, the city's legislative body, the report on the city administration's work in 2024 was overwhelmingly approved, reported RIA Tomsk from the MKTS Tomsk Polytech Congress Center (source: RIA Novosti). The meetup was focused on reviewing the city administration's performance for the previous year.

Following the report delivery, Mayor Dmitry Mahini answered questions. Eventually, the report was accepted with a majority vote. "The report has been approved", summed up the voting outcome, Sergei Sechenov, the head of the Tomsk Duma, reported.

A total of 27 out of 30 deputies participated in the vote. One deputy voted against the report, another abstained, while the remaining 25 endorsed it.

As per local laws, if the report receives unsatisfactory marks for two consecutive years, this could serve as grounds for the mayor's resignation (source: government.ru).

Deputies' Viewpoints

During the session, Sechekov pointed out the primary queries from Tomsk residents centred around trash collection, road repairs, and transport system development.

"The year was quite challenging. We had uncooperative contractors who, in the course of road repairs and school renovations, let us down. Some programs we couldn't fully complete, but overall, the tasks set for 2024 have been accomplished. I'd like to emphasize that the administration was honest about the problems and, most importantly, about potential solutions", remarked deputy Maxim Reznik.

Deputy Konstantin Ushakov suggested that the mayor's office should concentrate on courting potential investors and expanding the "one-window system".

"Most of the agreements discussed during the budget approval for 2024 with the city administration were carried out. Among the positive developments, I'd highlight the swift response from the mayor's office leadership to emerging issues, including Mayor Mahini, his deputies, and the heads of departments", added deputy Maxim Zabelin.

However, he emphasized that there were still several aspects that required further attention. "This includes street cleaning, particularly during the spring season. And, of course, installing outdoor lighting on annexed territories and on the outskirts of the city, where it is currently lacking", he concluded.
