Tomorrowland persists: organizers race against time to accommodate attendees

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Tomorrowland festival in Belgium on July 18, 2025, organisers are yet to confirm whether Scenario 1 or 2 will be implemented due to a fire incident that severely damaged the main stage on July 16.

The fire, which is believed to have been caused by unknown factors possibly related to fireworks or pyrotechnic device testing, has left the main stage in a state of disarray, with an ice world-like structure, constructed over fifty days, destroyed. Despite this setback, no injuries were reported, and the festival's campsite, DreamVille, opened as planned.

If Scenario 1 is possible, the festival will open as planned, welcoming all attendees without restrictions. However, if Scenario 2 is necessary, the festival site and DreamVille will function as separate areas to ensure safety. Under Scenario 2, the festival doors will open at 14:00, two hours later than originally planned, while the entire site will be available for all attendees and types of passes starting from 12:00.

DreamVille visitors will not be able to enter the festival site under Scenario 2. Instead, the meeting stage in DreamVille will host the artists originally scheduled for the Mainstage on July 18. Referents such as Martin Garrix and David Guetta are still expected to perform, albeit potentially at the DreamVille stage.

Hundreds of people are working tirelessly to ensure the Mainstage area is ready for the public on July 18. The Fiscal Prosecutor's Office in Antwerp has requested an investigation into the fire to determine its exact cause. The investigating judge has also been asked to look into the matter.

Tomorrowland attracts over 400,000 people each year, making it one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world. Organisers began sharing updates about the festival's future on July 16, assuring fans that they are working on finding solutions for the festival weekend.

It is important to note that a similar fire incident occurred on the main stage of Tomorrowland in Barcelona in 2017, resulting in the evacuation of over 20,000 people. However, the organisers have stressed that they are doing everything in their power to ensure a safe and memorable event for all attendees.

As the festival weekend approaches, fans await the official announcement regarding the implementation of Scenario 1 or 2. Regardless of the scenario, the spirit of Tomorrowland is undoubtedly alive, with hundreds of thousands of music lovers ready to come together and celebrate the magic of electronic music.

The future of the entertainment derived from the music performance at Tomorrowland remains uncertain due to the fire incident, but the music lovers can still expect captivating performances as artists such as Martin Garrix and David Guetta are anticipated to perform at the DreamVille meeting stage under Scenario 2, should it be necessary. Despite the unfortunate setback, the main stage area is brimming with workers' relentless efforts to restore it for public viewing on July 18.
