Tommy Fleetwood's Memorable Hole-in-One Takes Center Stage at Masters Tournament
In one of the tournament's most exciting moments, Tommy Fleetwood aced the par-3 16th hole on Thursday, propelling him to the top of the leaderboard at the prestigious Augusta National.
Fleetwood's ball soared over the water, avoiding the bunkers surrounding the green, and gracefully navigated each obstacle before finally finding its mark. Fleetwood, who gained fame from his friendship with Francesco Molinari during the 2018 Ryder Cup, displayed an expression of relief as he celebrated with his arms raised, witnessing his ball fall onto the green.
"It's really cool to have a player at the Masters," Fleetwood told the media after the round. "It feels like it happened pretty quickly - two major championships in two weeks. I'll try to keep it going."
"Yeah, it's something special. It's great to make it as a pro, it's great to make it in a tournament, but playing at Augusta National could offer an additional advantage."
Fleetwood's ace marked the second time in a row that he achieved the feat, having done so while leading the world rankings. 24 also claimed victory in the WGC Match Play.
The 30-year-old golfer will have to budget for this newfound tradition, as every player who accomplishes a hole-in-one is obligated to buy drinks for their fellow competitors.
In recognition of his remarkable feat, Fleetwood was also presented with a crystal vase, which he can keep forever.
