Tomsk Duma Elections: United Russia Dominates First-Past-The-Post Districts
The city of Tomsk has concluded its elections for the eighth convocation of the Duma, with a total of 37 deputies being elected from September 12 to 14. The results have been approved, and the list of the newly elected deputies is now available.
In the first-past-the-post districts, 27 seats were filled, with the majority going to United Russia representatives. In the first-past-the-post district of Tomsk, 26 out of 27 seats were won by United Russia candidates. The successful representatives include Anton Shaniin, Yevgeny Yadrenkin, Vladimir Buzmakov, Shamyl Khatylov, Irina Grabchevich, Sergey Kuzminykh, Nadezhda Selivanova, Diana Smoleva, Svetlana Kalinina, Larisa Luzina, Maxim Rezhnikov, Alexander Susikov, Natalia Krasnitckaya, Larisa Varennik, Sergey Panov, Natalia Sosnovskaya, Valentina Glotova, Svetlana Shchenova, Lidiya Pikalova, Konstantin Rodionov, Alla Volkova, Igor Morozov, Alexander Kopanchuk, and Sergey Nikulshin.
The Communist Party managed to secure one seat in the first-past-the-post district of Tomsk, held by Vladimir Cholakhyan. Meanwhile, 'Fair Russia' received two seats from the voting from party lists, and 'United Russia' secured five seats from the party lists as well.
Ten deputies were elected from party lists. The registration process for the deputies elected in first-past-the-post districts will begin after they formally accept their mandates, according to the election commission's schedule. The Tomsk Election Commission will be responsible for registering the newly elected parliamentarians.
Candidates in first-past-the-post districts have until September 21 to accept or decline their mandate, as the decision-making period began on September 16. Registration will occur for deputies elected in a first-past-the-post district.
This concludes the elections for the Tomsk Duma's eighth convocation. The newly elected representatives now have a few days to accept or decline their mandates, marking the beginning of their term in office.
