Hollywood god Tom Cruise stole the limelight once again, shattering the record books with a death-defying stunt in his latest masterpiece, "Mission: Impossible - The Last Stand". The 62-year-old action movie legend now officially holds the "most burning parachute jumps by an individual" title, as announced by Guinness World Records on the X platform.

In an unprecedented 16 attempts for a breathtaking action sequence, Cruise hurled himself out of a whirring chopper, ignited his flame-engulfed parachute and gracefully landed on terra firma with a trusty reserve ’chute each time.

Cruise took his devoted fans behind the scenes, sharing a gripping video from the set on X, where he conversed with the crew about the heart-stopping stunt and reassured them that they were "playing it safe". The video then whizzes viewers through 16 hair-raising ablaze jumps.

"Tom doesn't merely portray action heroes; he is an action hero!" enthused Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records, in a statement. Praising Cruise's courage, Glenday lauded the actor’s "unwavering bravery" and bestowed the coveted world record title on Cruise.

The Final 'Mission: Impossible'?

Since bursting onto the scene in 1996 as secret agent Ethan Hunt in the "Mission: Impossible" film series, Cruise has been smashing boundaries and challenging the laws of physics. Witness him weaving a motorcycle against Parisian traffic, clinging to a flying airplane, and even scaling the colossal Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai.

The latest production from director Christopher McQuarrie, a sequel to "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning" (2023), was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This breathtaking conclusion to the nearly 30-year spy saga is said to be Cruise's final ride as Ethan Hunt.
