Tom Brady Statue Unveiling Delayed and Rescheduled

After an initial plan to unveil the Tom Brady statue during the 2024 NFL season, the event has been postponed and will now take place on August 8, 2025. The ceremony will occur at Patriot Place Plaza, next to the team's Hall of Fame, before the Patriots' pre-season game against the Washington Commanders.

The original plan was to unveil the statue during a game that Brady might have broadcast as a Fox analyst. However, since Brady was not assigned to broadcast any Patriots game in 2024, the ceremony was postponed. The new date was chosen to align with Brady's schedule and to provide fans with an opportunity to honour him inside the stadium.

This shift allows the team to maximize the ceremony's significance and accommodate Brady's availability. The statue is a testament to Brady's incredible career with the Patriots, during which he won three NFL MVP awards and five Super Bowl MVPs. Brady took over as the starter from Drew Bledsoe in the 2001 season and went on to win six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 12-foot statue will be revealed during the ceremony by Robert Kraft. Fans with tickets can see both the ceremony and game in person as gates at the stadium will open early at 5 p.m. The ceremony can also be watched live on WBZ-TV and streamed on the Patriots official website.

Mike Toole, the managing editor for our Boston newsroom and a veteran of the WBZ-TV newsroom for more than 20 years, will be covering the event. Tom Brady turned 48 on Sunday, August 3, making the unveiling ceremony even more special.

Parking lots will open at 3:30 p.m. for the ceremony, ensuring that fans have plenty of time to find their seats and prepare for the exciting event. The optimal viewing of the ceremony will be available on the video boards inside Gillette Stadium, offering a great vantage point for those who cannot secure tickets.

This statue marks a significant milestone in the history of the New England Patriots and pays tribute to one of the greatest players in the franchise's history. Brady is the first player in Patriots history to have a statue at Gillette Stadium in his honour. Join us in celebrating this momentous occasion on August 8, 2025.
