Five Facts About Gustav Schäfer - Tokio Hotel's Gustav Schäfer steps into the spotlight on Let's Dance

Gustav Schäfer, the drummer of Tokio Hotel, is stepping into the spotlight for the first time in years. Known for staying out of the media, he will join the 19th season of Let's Dance on RTL, starting February 27, 2025. The show offers fans a rare chance to see the usually private musician in a new role.

Schäfer has spent most of his career in the background. He joined Tokio Hotel at 12 after meeting the Kaulitz twins at a 2001 gig in Magdeburg. While Bill and Tom Kaulitz became the band's public faces, Schäfer and bassist Georg Listing stayed quietly focused on the music.

Away from the stage, he leads a low-key life. Married to Linda since 2014 and a father since 2016, he avoids celebrity drama. His passions include grilling—so much so that he is building a 75-square-metre 'grill palace' in his garden. Even now, he remains a man of few words, letting his drumming do the talking.

Beyond music, Schäfer still plays for the old-timers' football team at 1. FC Magdeburg. His Let's Dance appearance marks a rare solo moment in the public eye, breaking from his usual preference for privacy.

The drummer's time on Let's Dance will be his most visible solo project yet. Fans accustomed to his reserved nature will see a different side of him. The show begins on February 27, offering a glimpse into the life of Tokio Hotel's quiet force.
