'Today Still There': JP Nadda Laughs at Rahul Gandhi Following Bihar Woman's Recantation of Allegations on Absent Voter Lists - VIDEO (REVISED)
In the lead-up to the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar, a heated debate has arisen over claims made by Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition, accusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) of systematically deleting legitimate voters and engaging in "vote theft" to benefit the ruling BJP.
Gandhi alleges that many voters, particularly from vulnerable groups, have been wrongfully removed from the voter lists, effectively disenfranchising them. He labels this as a serious misconduct or "treason" by the election officials, vowing that those responsible "won't be spared."
However, the Election Commission has consistently refuted these allegations, insisting that the rigorous voter list revision and documentation requirements are necessary to maintain clean electoral rolls. The Commission has requested details about the voter deletion claims made by Gandhi and has fact-checked and dismissed videos and reports purportedly showing wrongful voter deletions.
In response, BJP president JP Nadda has strongly criticized Gandhi’s allegations, calling them politically motivated and unsubstantiated. Nadda shared videos to counter Gandhi’s narrative, showing instances where names of alleged "deleted" voters were actually present. Nadda also highlighted that the Election Commission gave Gandhi a seven-day ultimatum to prove his claims, which he failed to substantiate.
Meanwhile, opposition parties argue that the documentation demands may disproportionately impact poor and marginalized communities in Bihar, who often lack required documents like birth certificates and passports, threatening their voting rights.
This dispute reflects a broader political battle over electoral integrity and the credibility of the voter list revision ahead of critical state polls. The BJP has claimed that the Congress' attacks on the Election Commission are part of a conspiracy to undermine constitutional bodies and democracy in the country.
In a related development, a woman in a video shared by Rahul Gandhi claimed that her family members' names were missing from the newly prepared draft roll. However, it was later revealed that her family members' names were on the list, and the woman's initial claims have not been independently verified.
This ongoing controversy underscores the importance of maintaining fair and transparent electoral processes, a matter of great concern for all citizens. As the election draws near, it is crucial that all parties involved uphold the democratic principles of inclusivity, transparency, and accountability.
