Meanwhile, in the world of cricket, a debate has been ignited over workload management policies by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Former chief selector Sandeep Patil has strongly criticized these policies, particularly in relation to Jasprit Bumrah's participation in the just concluded India's tour of England.

Patil questioned the prioritization of physios over selectors, captains, and coaches in deciding player participation. He expressed disbelief that players nowadays are allowed to pick and choose matches due to fitness concerns, contrasting this with past players like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev who played through pain without seeking rest and extended their careers successfully.

Patil specifically condemned the decision to limit Bumrah to three Test matches against England despite his importance to the team. He argued that resting key players in major series is not the right strategy and questioned how the BCCI could agree to such workload policies, implying it undermines traditional cricketing commitment and warrior-like mentality.

In the world of tennis, Madison Keys had to rally to reach the last 32 in the Cincinnati Open. She won her match against Eva Lys with a score of 1-6 6-3 7-6 (7-1). Defending champion Jannik Sinner also had a successful outing, winning his Cincinnati Open match against Daniel Elahi Galan in 59 minutes, making it his fastest win of 2025.

Elsewhere, India currently sit atop the four-team Group D table with four points after a goalless draw with Indonesia and a 7-0 win over Turkmenistan. In football, India face Myanmar in their third and final match in Group D of the AFC Under-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifier.
