To whom does the pedal electric bike belong?
In a recent development, the Bielefeld Police have made a significant recovery in a bicycle theft case. On April 24, 2025, a woman's Pedelec was secured by the Bielefeld Police on the main street in Schildesche, Bielefeld. The incident occurred around 09:30.
The woman, who reported her stolen bicycle to the police, was able to locate it using a GPS tracker. Upon finding her Pedelec, she contacted the authorities, who proceeded to secure the bicycle.
In a connected investigation, another Pedelec was discovered in the same basement room. A judge approved a search of this room, where the woman's Pedelec was found. In addition to the recovered Pedelecs, personal documents of a 52-year-old homeless man known to the police were found in the room. The 52-year-old man is now suspected of having stolen the bicycles.
The Bielefeld Police are currently in possession of both Pedelecs. However, the rightful owner of the second secured bicycle, a black Zündapp Lady Citybike, has yet to be identified. The police are appealing for the rightful owner to come forward with proof of ownership and contact the Criminal Investigation Department 13 at 0521/545-0.
