Metallurg Signs Veteran Forward Vladimir Tkachev for Two Seasons

Vladimir Tkachev, a skilled forward with a proven track record in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), has signed a two-year contract with Hockey Club Metallurg, effective immediately. The announcement was made through the club's official Telegram channel.

Tkachev, who turns 29 this year, will join Metallurg after his contract with Avangard was terminated in July. The forward represented Avangard for the past three seasons, but will now call Magnitogorsk's team his new home.

Tkachev's impressive performance during the 2024-2025 KHL season with SKA Saint Petersburg is noteworthy. In 45 games, he scored 11 goals and provided 27 assists, totaling 38 points. His points-per-game rate was approximately 0.84, with a plus-minus rating of +12 and he accumulated 26 penalty minutes.

Yevgeny Biryukov, the sports director of Metallurg, expressed enthusiasm about the signing. "We were quick to act when we learned that Tkachev was becoming a free agent," he said. "The formation of the team requires quick reaction and decision-making, and the 'Case of Tkachev' is a clear example of this."

Biryukov further emphasized that Tkachev strengthens any team, and Metallurg is happy to have secured one of the most skilled hockey players in the KHL. He met with Tkachev and his agent to discuss the forward's role in Metallurg for the coming seasons.

Tkachev's move to Metallurg marks his seventh team in the KHL, following SKA St. Petersburg, Admiral Vladivostok, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, Avangard, and his former team, Omskie Yastreby. His contract with Metallurg will run for the duration of the 2026/2027 season.

It's worth noting that there is no evidence in the search results of Tkachev playing for other KHL teams like Avangard Omsk recently, as the player listed there with zero points is likely a different individual or outdated data.

Metallurg's latest signing is expected to bolster the team's offensive capabilities and contribute to a successful season. Tkachev's experience and skill will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the team as they continue their journey in the KHL.

Tkachev, now joining Metallurg, will bring his impressive hockey skills and experience from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), having previously played for teams like SKA Saint Petersburg and Avangard. His dynamic playing style, evident in his 38-point performance during the 2024-2025 season with SKA Saint Petersburg, is expected to significantly boost Metallurg's sports department and enhance their overall offensive capabilities for a successful season.
