Sparrows chirping from rooftops for days; time's up! Christian Titz is hitting the road to join forces with Hannover 96 while Markus Fiedler steers the ship at 1. FC Magdeburg.

No details about any payment have been disclosed regarding the coach swap.

Sparring New Grounds

Fiedler, aged 39, has been spearheading the second team at VfB Stuttgart II since 2023. His impressive leadership secured their promotion to the 3rd league and ensured their continued presence there. Prior to that, he nurtured a plethora of young, talented wrestlers at the cup triumphant from Neckar. At the news, Fiedler commented, "Leaving Stuttgart is a heart-wrenching decision for me. I've spent ten glorious years at this magnificent club. But when Magdeburg offered me the position, I couldn't resist the temptation."

Our Sporting Director Olaf Schork announced Fiedler's arrival on June 15. He championed Fiedler's track record in nurturing budding players and expressed his ambition to continue shaping the future of FCM alongside Fiedler. Fiedler is slated to lead his inaugural training session with the Elbe residents on June 23.

Hannover Here We Come

Titz is hopping aboard at Hannover 96. The 54-year-old coach has signed a two-year contract with the Reds. His confidant, André Kilian, will also join him in Hannover, according to FCM's official statement. Speaking on the new opportunity, Titz expressed his joy, "I'm blessed to have been granted the responsibility of leading Hannover 96 as head coach. I eagerly anticipate the team, people around them, and the city and its fans, who I'm excited to involve and journey with from day one."

Schork on the Coach Call

Olaf Schork, FCM's sporting director, reveals his reaction to Titz's departure, "I'm dealing with it professionally. Personally, it's a tough pill to swallow. It's a significant hit." Schork further explained their bond, developed since February 2021, which remained unbroken even when the second league's continuation required resolve in trying times. He added that the camaraderie within the team and coaching staff played a crucial role in maintaining composure during tough phases.

Bonus Info:

Titz's longest tenure as a professional coach was during his time at Magdeburg, which lasted a staggering 1581 days. Only two trainers since reunification had the Magdeburg chief position longer. One is club legend Dirk Heyne, who narrowly missed the Elbe city's promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2007, and Jens Härtel, who achieved the promotion from the Regionalliga to the 2nd Liga in 2018.
