Title winners: Nikolai Efimovich Stepanov emerges victorious
Talking with a Living Legend – Nikolai Efimovich Stepanov
In our seventh issue of the WINNERS project, acclaimed Russian People's Artist Dmitry Pevtsov chats with Nikolai Efimovich Stepanov, a living testament to WWII valor.
Information suggests that Nikolai, a recipient of three 'For Bravery' medals during the Great Patriotic War, is the last veteran left. His deeds were recognized by the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, and other accolades.
Our hero, Nikolai, was born on November 27, 1924, in Varvarino, Tula region. From 1942 to 1945, he fought on the frontlines of the Great Patriotic War, winning Victory Day in Kaunas and freeing the Baltic States.
Reminiscing his war experiences, Nikolai fondly recalls combat tales, saving comrades, and front-line trench stories.
Post-war, he spent 40 years as a taxi driver in Moscow and continues his dedication to fostering patriotism in today's youth.
