In the eight-episode series "The Better Sister," available on Prime Video, Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks star as rival siblings entangled in a web of deceit and betrayal. The series, based on the novel by bestselling author Alafair Burke, takes viewers on a rollercoaster ride filled with suspense and shocking revelations.

The story unfolds when Adam, one of the characters, is found murdered. Chloe, one of the sisters, is accused of framing Jake for the crime during the court trial. However, the jury finds Ethan, another character, not guilty of second-degree murder.

The series takes a darker turn as it is revealed that Adam was physically abusive towards Chloe, a fact she had hidden from everyone, including her son Ethan. This revelation comes to light during Chloe's confession in court.

The relationship between Chloe and Ethan becomes even more complex when it is revealed that Ethan hates Chloe's way of trying to win Adam's affection. This, coupled with Ethan's actions after stealing Adam's gun, leaves Chloe terrified about what her son might do next.

Nicky, the other sister, finds a gun in a briefcase in Adam's office at home, adding another layer to the mystery. Later, Nicky is seen with a gun in her handbag after driving home alone, raising more questions about her involvement in the events leading up to Adam's murder.

The siblings' mysterious past is gradually brought to light, revealing secrets that have been hidden for years. One such secret is revealed in a flashback, where Nicky is shown arriving home drunk at 5 am, causing problems for her mother with baby Ethan.

Another significant plot point involves Chloe's meeting with Olivero in his car and handing over a USB, but he is unimpressed and refuses to get involved in Ethan's trial. The character accused of murdering her husband in the final episodes of "The Better Sister" and questioned by Chloe about it is Karen Read.

As the series progresses, the relationship between the sisters becomes increasingly strained. During Ethan's trial, Chloe and Nicky have a heated argument in the courtroom, leading to both sisters being cuffed by the police.

In a surprising twist, Chloe searches Adam's office and downloads a file called "Gentry Group" onto an external hard drive. When she confronts Jake about it, he reveals that it is a shell corporation and wouldn't have someone going into Adam's home and killing him.

The series reaches its climax with Ethan apologizing to Chloe for the things he wrote about her online and expressing concern for Jake's well-being. However, the ultimate fate of the characters and the truth behind Adam's murder remain shrouded in mystery, leaving viewers eager for a potential second season.
