Title Revised: Florida Bill AC 33.2025 - Proposed Amendments to Student Privacy Regulations

On September 17, 2025, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) announced an update to the File Format Guidance for Case Files. The update, detailed in the updated Appendix A of NARA Bulletin 2014-04, titled "Table of File Formats of NARA Bulletin 2014-04, Format Guidance for the Transfer of Permanent Electronic Records," aims to offer more streamlined management of case files with multiple media types.

The update involves the integration of the standalone media type "PDF Collections" into the newly recognised media type "Case Files." As a result, the guidance provided in the updated Appendix A is specifically for Case Files, offering more comprehensive guidance for managing case files with various media types, including PDF.

The Chief Records Officer for the U.S. Government (Acting), WILLIAM FISCHER, made the announcement. The update pertains to the transfer of permanent electronic records and provides guidance for the transfer of such records, as well as for using the PDF format to manage case files within the Case Files media type.

The new media type "Case Files" now includes the former standalone media type "PDF Collections." This integration is expected to simplify the management of case files with multiple media types.
