Title Reformulation: Liverpool, Current EPL Champions, Start as Significant Home Favorites in Upcoming Matches
Liverpool Set to Extend Dominance Over Bournemouth in Premier League Opener
Liverpool and Bournemouth are set to face off in the opening match of the 2025-26 Premier League season at Anfield, with Liverpool holding a clear advantage in their historical head-to-head record.
In the 25 meetings between the two clubs, Liverpool have emerged victorious in 20 matches, while Bournemouth have only managed to win twice. The Reds' two defeats came away from home in December 2016 and March 2023.
At Anfield, Liverpool have been particularly dominant, winning 19 of their 20 home matches against Bournemouth. The most recent encounter saw Liverpool secure a 4-2 victory on the opening day of the 2025-26 season.
Bournemouth have fared better at their own ground, the Vitality Stadium, but Liverpool have still claimed several recent victories, including a 2-0 win thanks to a Mohamed Salah double in 2024.
Liverpool's dominance extends beyond their home ground, as they have won six consecutive matches against Bournemouth since their last loss in 2023, with five of those wins coming in the Premier League.
This record demonstrates Liverpool's clear superiority over Bournemouth both home and away in the Premier League era. The Reds led the league with 86 goals scored last season and allowed the second fewest goals with 41. Four of the last five wins for Liverpool against Bournemouth were by multiple goals.
As a result, betting sites have Liverpool as strong favourites to win the match outright, with odds of -340, and to cover the one and a half goal spread, with odds of -110. Bournemouth, on the other hand, have odds of +300000 to win the 2025 Premier League title.
The 2025 Premier League season begins on Friday at 3 PM EST, with Liverpool looking to extend their dominance over Bournemouth and start the season with a win. However, Bournemouth will be determined to end their winless streak against the Reds and cause an upset at Anfield.
