Title Fight for IBF Asia Light-Flyweight Title Between Gentallan and Sampaga

In the world of boxing, the Ubujan Covered Court in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, will be the centre of attention on September 20, 2025. The main event of the evening will see Shane Gentallan and Arvin John Sampaga battling it out for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asia light-flyweight title.

Sampaga, currently ranked No. 33 by the WBC, boasts a win-loss-draw record of 8-2-1 with three knockouts. He is making his ring return following a nine-month hiatus, having last seen action on Dec. 1, 2024, where he lost to Roderick Bautista by unanimous decision in a Philippine Boxing Federation light-flyweight bout in Quezon City. Sampaga has defeated notable opponents such as Christian Gagarin and Arnel Lofranco, but has also faced defeat at the hands of Lorenz Dumam-ag.

On the other hand, Shane Gentallan, with a current record of 12-1 and seven knockouts, is a formidable opponent. He has faced a setback in his career, falling short in his bid for a second regional title in 2023. However, since his past defeat, he has strung together five straight victories. Gentallan's most notable achievement was capturing the World Boxing Organization minimumweight belt with a second-round knockout in a past fight.

Gentallan's opponent for the IBF Asia light-flyweight title fight on Saturday, September 20, 2025, is Romerito Agbayani, not Arvin John Sampaga as previously announced. Agbayani, with a record of 19-11-2 and 13 knockouts, will present a challenging test for Gentallan.

The undercard features several other bouts, including Arlando Senoc versus Roldan Sasan, Datu Adam versus Jelo Bacalso, Freshler Utrera versus Kasty Flores, Jericho Acaylar versus Joseph Lanat, Sunnyboy Sinaon versus Jake Malinao, and Marvin Zamora against Jed Malinao.

PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions head Floriezyl Echavez Podot mentioned they have big plans for Shane Gentallan, but they are not rushing him. The winner of the fight is expected to crack the IBF's top 15 light-flyweight rankings, providing a significant boost to the career of the victor.

For Sampaga, this fight presents an opportunity to reclaim his place among the top contenders. For Gentallan, it's a chance to move up the ratings and solidify his position as a force to be reckoned with in the light-flyweight division. The stage is set for an exciting evening of boxing in Tagbilaran City.
