Draft Drama Unfolds in NFL 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft shook things up with some unexpected moves and juicy trades! Let's break it down.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a blockbuster trade, moving up to snag two-way phenom Travis Hunter from Colorado with the second overall pick. The Browns, on the other hand, scored a bundle with several draft picks, including a coveted 2026 first-rounder, in this deal.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward, as predicted, went first overall to the Tennessee Titans. With the No. 3 pick, the New York Giants beefed up their defensive line, selecting edge rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State, keeping the pressure on rival teams.

The fourth pick belonged to the New England Patriots, who, true to their word, strengthened their offensive line by welcoming LSU left tackle Will Campbell into the fold. The No. 4 spot was originally slated for Drake Maye, who the Pats picked in 2024.

Rumors swirled about other teams hoping to leapfrog the Las Vegas Raiders, but they held tight to the No. 6 pick, opting for Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. With their struggling rushing game from the 2024 season, Jeanty could bring a much-needed boost.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets boosted their offensive line with Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou, and the Carolina Panthers provided quarterback Bryce Young with a taller target in 6-foot-4 Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

The Dallas Cowboys added Alabama guard Tyler Booker to their lineup, while the Miami Dolphins fortified their defense with Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. The Atlanta Falcons, on the other hand, went for Jalon Walker, Georgia's top edge rusher.

Mississippi defensive tackle Walter Nolen headed to the Arizona Cardinals, and Texas A&M's Shemar Stewart joined the Cincinnati Bengals' roster as their fourth edge rusher in the first round.

Other notable picks included FCS champion North Dakota State's guard Grey Zabel joining the Seattle Seahawks, Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron strengthening the Denver Broncos' secondary.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, trading from the 11th spot, welcomed Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon to their team, as the Titans' general manager stated that their selection of Ward was a foregone conclusion well before the combine.

Several intriguing trades and big moves highlighted the 2025 NFL Draft, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead!

  1. In the later rounds, the Pittsburgh Steelers, looking to bolster their secondary, were lucky to receive Jalon Walker, Georgia's standout cornerback, in a trade.
  2. The Seattle Seahawks, seeking to reinforce their offensive line, drafted Grey Zabel, the talented guard from FCS champion North Dakota State, in the later stages of the draft.
  3. As for the Las Vegas Raiders, they didn't wait long to address their RB position, drafting Jalon, a promising cornerback from Tetairoa, in the 2025 NFL Supplemental Draft, aiming to provide a versatile player to boost their struggling offense.
