New Leadership at the Federal Character Commission (FCC)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made several key appointments at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), with Ayo Omidiran taking over as the new chairperson. The change came about following the reversal of the initial reappointment of Dr. Muheeba Dankaka due to controversies during her tenure.

On August 11, 2025, the Presidency announced Dankaka's reappointment as chairperson of the FCC [1][4]. However, within hours, a fresh statement was issued, withdrawing the reappointment and citing that Dankaka's tenure was "dogged by controversy" [3].

Omidiran, a former House of Representatives member, succeeded Dankaka as chairperson [2][3]. Notably, Mohammed Musa was appointed as commission secretary, and Kayode Oladele, a former House of Representatives member, was retained as commissioner [1][3].

Alongside these changes, Tinubu appointed several individuals as commissioners for various states. Hon. Jerry Alagbaoso was appointed as Commissioner for Imo State, Sir Tonye Okio for Bayelsa State, and Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama for Taraba State [6].

The controversies associated with Dankaka's administration led to the president’s decision to replace her with Omidiran. No explicit details about the controversies were disclosed in the sources.
