Streaming Alert: Say Goodbye to the Tension-Filled Drama The Hour on Netflix UK!

Mark your calendars, folks! If you're a Netflix fan in the UK, don't miss out on the captivating period drama, The Hour. It's a must-watch before it vanishes from your screen on Wednesday, June 4. Unfortunately, it's not available on BBC iPlayer, so grab this opportunity while it lasts! (In the US, the series is accessible via Acorn TV.)

Set in the murky world of 1950s London journalism, this stylish 2011 series revolves around three journalists – Freddie (Ben Whishaw, not the original lead), Bel (Romola Garai), and Hector (Dominic West) – who launch a topical news show, The Hour.

Whishaw's character, Freddie, becomes the focus as he investigates the murder of a college professor, with the descent into conspiracy involving the highest echelons of the British government.

At the time, Whishaw shared his thoughts about the character: "Freddie Lyon is a loose cannon, unpredictable, opinionated, and last on the list for the lead role of The Hour. Bel (Romola Garai) takes the producer position, while Hector (Dominic West) captures the front spot."

When asked about working with Romola and Dominic, Whishaw enthusiastically stated, "It's been great working with them. They're brilliant actors and have strong personalities. It's been a joy to collaborate with them."

The Hour airwaves on Netflix UK will cease on June 4. However, don't fret! Netflix remains a fantastic haven for BBC dramas that have left iPlayer and are challenging to find elsewhere. Other notable series include Ripper Street and The Replacement.

Frankly, Whishaw's acting talents don't end here. He's starred in several other shows and films, like Paddington and the critically acclaimed This Is Going To Hurt. So, if you're intrigued, do check them out!
