Scheduled Time for Trump-Putin Meeting Announced by the Kremlin - Time set by Kremlin for Trump-Putin encounter

The 2025 Russia-United States Summit, also known as Alaska 2025, took place on August 15, 2025, at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. This significant diplomatic event marked the first meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin since Trump's 2024 reelection and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The main objective of the summit was to address the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, with the goal of exploring pathways toward peace. Both leaders described the meeting as constructive, although no ceasefire or formal agreement was reached. President Trump indicated that many points had been agreed upon, but some remained unresolved, suggesting later that Ukraine might need to cede territory to end the conflict.

This meeting was significant in several respects:

  • It was Putin’s first visit to a Western country since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
  • It marked the first time a Russian presidential visit to the U.S. was held on a U.S. military base.
  • It was the first U.S.-hosted meeting of Russian and U.S. presidents since 2007.
  • Trump and Putin held a joint press conference where Putin emphasized the close geographical ties between the two countries, but spoke little specifically about Ukraine.
  • Trump planned to follow up by contacting European leaders and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

However, it's worth noting that Kyiv was not represented in the negotiations between Trump and Putin. The meeting between the two leaders was scheduled to occur in Moscow, Russia, starting at 11:30 AM local time, which corresponds to 9:30 PM CEST on Friday.

This summit sought to open a dialogue on ending the war in Ukraine, aiming for negotiation progress rather than immediate resolution, with the onus for territorial concessions implied to lie primarily on Ukraine according to Trump. The summit ended without a ceasefire or formal agreement but was positioned by both leaders as a positive step toward further talks.
