Time Out Market Union Square Opens With Affordable Eats and Local Culture
Time Out Market New York has opened a new location in Union Square, offering a smaller, neighborhood-focused space with affordable dining options. The market, which opened on Friday, features seven local food vendors, including notable chefs like Kwame Onwuachi with his debut concept, Patty Palace.
The Union Square market spans 10,000 square feet, smaller than the 24,000 square foot Dumbo location. Despite its size, it packs a punch with its culinary offerings. Prices are more affordable here, with dishes ranging from $5 to $9.
The market aims to connect with the local culture. Over the next couple of months, it will feature activations centered around The Lion King, including signature cocktails at the full-service bar. The market also boasts a Coffee & Pastry showcase, offering treats like croissants, cinnamon rolls, and Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding and brownies.
Among the vendors are Kebabwala serving Indian fare, Taqueria el Chato with street tacos and quesadillas, Kam Rai Thai, Paninoteca by Anthony, Fornino, and Lori Jayne. Patty Palace, a Jamaican patty concept by chef Kwame Onwuachi, serves up options like beef, curried chicken, and jerk mushroom on coco bread.
The new Time Out Market New York in Union Square celebrates local culinary talents and brings the community together, as stated by Virginia Rector-Birbal, VP US Time Out Markets. With its smaller footprint, affordable prices, and cultural activations, it promises to be a vibrant addition to the neighborhood.
