In the popular mobile game, Super Mario Run, players can embark on themed missions that take them through various islands as they quest to reconnect the world. These themed missions include the Rainbow Galleria, Goomba Lagoon, and King Bowser's Keep missions.

These special mission types are tied to crossover updates with other Mario franchises, such as Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD. They are available for a limited time, typically lasting several weeks to about a month or longer, aligned with the cross-promotional campaigns.

Players can unlock these missions by linking their Nintendo Account to Super Mario Run. This connection also allows them to unlock a paid stage for free during the event. The game's stages are selected from specific courses, including 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, 5-1, 5-2, and 5-3. Stages such as 2-1, 3-3, 4-2, and 5-1 will be selected more often during the event.

The gameplay in Super Mario Run is designed for one-handed play. Players control Mario by tapping to make him jump and perform other actions. As they progress through the themed missions, they can launch out of Shipshape Island's cannon to visit and explore various islands, including tropical rainforests and bustling cities.

Rewards for completing these themed missions include unique in-game items such as statues of characters from the featured franchises (e.g., Paper Mario cast), which can be placed in the player's kingdom to customize it. Other rewards often relate to collectibles and kingdom decorations tied to the event theme, enhancing the aesthetic and gameplay experience during and after the event.

It's important to note that some missions in Super Mario Run require access to courses that cannot be played without a purchase. To participate in the themed mission events, players must update Super Mario Run to the latest version (3.2.0).

Meanwhile, the upcoming game, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, takes place on the high seas, where the world of Concordia has been fractured into scattered islands. This game, scheduled for release on November 7, 2024, for the Nintendo SwitchTM system, features side quests with story-driven missions and specific characters, but these are distinct from Super Mario Run's themed missions.

In Super Mario Run, the player's objective is to reconnect the islands as Mario and Luigi. The themed missions will be available from November 7 at 12 a.m. PT until December 18 at 11 p.m. PT. Players can check mission objectives and progress in Super Mario Run by tapping the mission icon in the top-right area of their kingdom.

Functioning on the Nintendo Switch, the upcoming game Mario & Luigi: Brothership will offer side quests distinct from Super Mario Run's themed missions. Meanwhile, Super Mario Run is bringing special themed missions featuring characters from Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion, available from November 7 until December 18. These events can be accessed by linking a Nintendo Account, allowing players to unlock free stages while collecting unique items related to the featured franchises.
