Detroit Tigers Rookie Pitcher Jackson Jobe Lands on Injured List Due to Right Elbow Injury

KANSAS CITY, MO — The Detroit Tigers placed rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe on the 15-day injured list on Friday, as he copes with a right elbow injury. The team announced that the move was retroactive to Thursday.

Jobe, age 22, mentioned experiencing discomfort after leaving his last start, which took place against San Francisco on Wednesday. The team revealed that Jobe had incurred a Grade 1 right flexor strain.

Manager AJ Hinch divulged before the league-leading Tigers opened a three-game series in Kansas City that Jobe had some soreness after his recent outing. Hinch commented, "When the test results came back, doctors found this flexor strain."

"We'll monitor his progress throughout rest and rehabilitation, and we'll listen to the doctors and pitching coaches," Hinch added. "I try not to jump to conclusions until we receive updates on his recovery."

Jobe has recorded a 4-1 win-loss record and a 4.22 earned run average (ERA) in 10 starts this season. He has accrued 39 strikeouts and 27 walks in 49 innings pitched.

Right-handed pitcher Dylan Smith was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to replace Jobe on the Tigers' active roster. Smith will make his major-league debut with the team during his first appearance. To accommodate Smith on the 40-man roster, right-hander Alex Cobb shifted to the 60-day injured list.

Enrichment Data Integration: Jackson Jobe is recovering from a Grade 1 right flexor strain, a mild injury. Generally, the recovery period for this type of injury is estimated at between four and six weeks [1][3]. Assuming normal healing and no complications, Jobe's prognosis suggests a return to pitching in early to mid-July 2025 [2].
