Tidewater Utilities expands with Pinewood Acres water system takeover in Delaware
Tidewater Utilities, Inc. (TUI) has taken over the Pinewood Acres water system in Delaware. The move follows approval from the state's Public Service Commission and expands TUI's reach to 360 new customers in the community.
The company, a subsidiary of Middlesex Water, has served Delaware for over 60 years. It now operates 172 wells and 85 treatment plants across more than 480 communities in the state.
Middlesex Water Company, one of the nation's largest investor-owned water providers, oversees essential services for over half a million people. Its subsidiary, TUI, already supplies water to around 62,000 customers in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties.
The acquisition of Pinewood Acres' water assets was finalised after regulatory approval. Bruce E. Patrick, TUI's president, emphasised a focus on a smooth transition for residents. Pinewood Acres Management also backed the change, citing long-term benefits for the community.
In the coming weeks, affected customers will receive details by post. Additional updates and support will be available on TUI's website at www.TUIWater.com.
The takeover marks another expansion for TUI, which has grown steadily since its founding. Pinewood Acres residents will now receive water services under the same provider that supports hundreds of other Delaware communities. The transition process is underway, with direct communication planned for all customers.
