Thursday Night Lawn Mowing Competition Deploys Scoring Mechanism for the 2025 Edition

Revamped Thursday Night Mowing League: A Game Changer for Mower Enthusiasts

As we celebrate the upcoming fifth year of the Thursday Night Mowing League (TNML), it’s high time to spice things up with a competitive point system. This week, league officials decided to introduce a scoring method that will establish playoff seeds in September, bestowing the title of 2025 TNML Mower of the Year upon the victor.

In a unanimous 5-0 decision, the introduction of points will allow us to delve deeper into the stats and analytics of America’s ultimate residential mowing league. Like great leagues of the past, the TNML will now have official records for keen data enthusiasts to analyze and geek out on. Future generations of lawn champions will need something iconic to aspire to—records to conquer.

When the TNML first emerged in 2021, the concept was a mere friend-inspired joke. The founders (yours truly) could hardly imagine a point system would be needed down the line. The league took baby steps, attempting to entice contestants with mowing reports and T-shirt sales.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve leveled up. The TNML is a bonafide league, brimming with passion and camaraderie. Proof? Fink wept live across our digital channels after emerging victorious in the national championships.

The 2025 TNML Point System

  • 1 point: Submitting a mowing report through social media or email (joe.kinsey@ourwebsite or my personal email, if you manage to find it through my Twitter bio)
  • 2 points: Including a photo showcasing your TNML attire in your report (no repeating the same image weekly, or face ejection from the league!)
  • 1 point: Tagging sponsors in your social media posts
  • 1 point: Sharing a TNML-themed mowing video
  • 1 point: Displaying an American flag in your mowing report
  • 1 point: Celebrating with a post-mow beverage of choice and a photo to prove it
  • 1 point: Using a drone in your report
  • 1 point: Sharing a photo of your furry friend in the mowing report
  • 1 point: If a sponsor re-tweets your content
  • -2 points (Deduction): Did Not Mow (DNM)

This is our 10-point core system, featuring a penalty for DNM to keep things fair (even if it may seem a little harsh). You can still make up grounds for DNM points during league events with a simple photo wearing the TNML gear.

Get creative and flex your mowing muscle!

If the weather’s grim, try integrating the American flag into a porch photo while savoring a DNM brewski.

What Happened to the Free TNML Stickers?

A reasonable inquiry. I just need to run it past the higher-ups for more budget approval. Patience, my friend, and they’ll be on their way!
