21 Hospitals Collaborate for Faster Heart Attack Assistance - Thuringia's New Heart Network Revolutionizes Emergency Cardiac Care for Patients
A new hospital network in Thuringia has launched to expedite emergency care for heart attack patients. The initiative, known as the Thuringia Heart Network, connects 21 hospitals across the state, ensuring faster and more effective treatment for those suffering acute cardiac events. Each year, between 1,500 and 1,800 people in Thuringia succumb to heart attacks, making this a critical step in enhancing survival rates.
The network includes hospitals in Bad Salzungen, Suhl, Gotha, Gera, Greiz, Jena, Weimar, and Erfurt. Only facilities with a cardiac catheterization lab and at least four cardiologists available around the clock have been selected, ensuring that patients receive immediate, specialized care when every minute counts.
Under the new system, emergency services will take heart attack patients directly to the nearest network hospital, provided it is within a reasonable distance. The goal is to reduce delays in treatment by ensuring rapid access to the right medical teams and equipment. The project is part of Thuringia's broader hospital plan to fortify acute care services statewide.
