Art Meets Cannabis: Exhibition on Intoxication and Reality - Thuringia's Health Minister Opens 'Only Good Vibes?' Cannabis Exhibition
Thuringia's Health Minister Katharina Schenk (SPD) will open the 'Only Good Vibes? Cannabis, Intoxication, and Reality' exhibition this Thursday at Erfurt’s Defensionskaserne. The event, organized by the Foundation World of Temptations, explores societal attitudes towards cannabis, nicotine, and alcohol, and aims to separate myth from fact about the hemp plant.
Schenk welcomed the shift in public discourse about cannabis use, moving away from simply demonizing all substances. She emphasized that statistics consistently demonstrate the risks of addiction and called for open discussions about cannabis use. The exhibition, running until January 18, aims to educate visitors about cannabis’s effects on the brain and body.
The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) is currently examining the enforcement law for Germany's partial legalization of cannabis. Interim results are expected by the end of 2024, with a pending evaluation process set to conclude by April 2028.
The 'Only Good Vibes? Cannabis, Intoxication, and Reality' exhibition encourages visitors to engage with facts and consider the societal impacts of cannabis, nicotine, and alcohol. With the German government's evaluation of cannabis legalization ongoing, the event serves as a timely exploration of these substances and their effects.
