Pocket Authority: Thuringia App to Arrive in 2026 - Thuringia’s 2026 digital app to merge tourism and government services in one platform
Thuringia is set to launch its new digital app in summer 2026. Designed to streamline tourism and government services, the platform will offer easy access to local information and administrative tasks. The project marks a key step in the state’s push for digital transformation under newly appointed digital chief Milen Starke.
The app’s first version will focus on tourism and mobility. Users can expect news, event listings, and travel services—including potential integration of the Germany Ticket. Registration will be simple in the early stage.
The second phase will expand into digital government functions. By late 2026, residents should be able to submit applications and register services directly through the app. Logins will use the federal Bund-ID for secure access.
Milen Starke, Thuringia’s Chief Information and Digital Officer, took office this summer with a clear mission. He described the app’s goal as putting government services 'in your pocket,' reducing paperwork and improving efficiency.
The Thuringia app will roll out at the start of the 2026 summer holidays. Its phased launch aims to combine tourism support with fully digital administrative services by year’s end. The project reflects the state’s broader effort to modernise public access through technology.
