Bavaria Sizzles, Then Thunder Roars this Weekend in the Free State
Intense Heat Followed by Thunderstorms Forecasted in the Free State - Thunderstorms to follow heatwave in the Free State
Hey there! Buckle up because temperatures in Bavaria are going to soar above 30°C this weekend, and there's a high chance of some fierce thunderstorms rolling in too.
The Free State of Bavaria will see sweltering temps between 30 and 35°C on Saturday. The German Weather Service (DWD) in Munich has warned that only the eastern foothills and Niederbayern might experience a slightly chillier high of around 29°C.
From the afternoon and evening, the DWD forecasts some isolated thunderstorms brewing in Swabia and western Upper Bavaria. These storms could bring heavy rainfall of approximately 20 liters per square meter in a short time, as well as hail and winds of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Don't be surprised if some rogue gusts hit 100 kilometers per hour! Another wave of thunderstorms will likely cross the Free State on Sunday morning.
Sunday will be muggy and warm, with temperatures reaching 32°C and a cap of 26°C in the Spessart. But the DWD expects clouds to gather from the west and the mountains, resulting in showers and thunderstorms primarily in southern Bavaria in the evening.
Sunday night into Monday, the DWD predicts prolonged downpours and some powerful thunderstorms in certain areas, with temperatures plummeting to a chilly 17 to 12°C. On Monday, expect maximum temps of 20 to 25°C.
So, grab your umbrella, as it looks like thunderstorms will be the highlight of your week!
