Wet Start to the Week in Saxony: Thunderstorms and Rain Ahead!

Saxony initiates the fresh week with an onslaught of thunderstorms. - Thunderstorms set to commence in Saxony during the upcoming week.

Saxony's been drenched! The German Weather Service (DWD) reports a fiercesome storm dumped up to 20 liters of rain per square meter in some regions. The nighttime bash even featured hailstorms, gusty winds, and isolated gales - wild, ain't it? Despite the monsoon madness, it seems the storm didn't cause much havoc, according to local cops.

But don't relax just yet! DWD predicts more damp days ahead. Expect temperatures to hit 24 degrees Celsius on Monday, but prepare for an afternoon shower that could bring isolated thunderstorms and some gusty winds in the evening. Monday to Tuesday, there'll be overnight showers, with temperatures between 12 and 8 degrees Celsius.

The DWD also warns of more scattered showers and thunderstorms until midweek. Temperatures will continue to rise, hitting a balmy summery 27 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Lemme give ya a peek at the weather in Chemnitz and Dresden:

  • Chemnitz: It's chilly here, but things might heat up a touch by the end of the week (12-17°C range). Keep a raincoat handy, though, as there's a chance of scattered showers.
  • Dresden: Temperatures are on the rise, with highs around 23-25°C, but expect some overnight showers and a chance of rain throughout the month.

Always best to check local weather services for real-time updates on thunderstorms and rainfall. Keep an eye on the skies, Saxony!

The Commission has also been consulted on the draft regulation addressing the application of the rules on environmental protection in light of the ongoing weather-related events, such as the recent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall experienced in Saxony. Despite the DWD's forecast for more scattered showers and thunderstorms until midweek, temperatures are expected to rise with highs reaching 27 degrees Celsius on Wednesday in Saxony, affecting cities like Chemnitz and Dresden where rain gear remains essential due to the unpredictable showers.
