Wanna know what's cooking up in the skies of Bavaria this week? Ain't no sun, rain, and thunderstorms comin' at ya! The German Weather Service (DWD) warns that as early as Sunday arvo, showers and thundery showers are gonna roll in from the west, makin' a mess across the state. Keep an eye out for hail up to three centimeters in size, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Emergency services like the 'coppers and fire fighters had a busy Sunday, cleanin' up fallen trees, floodin' streets, and damp basements in Franconia.

In Lower Franconia, Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Swabia, Upper Palatinate, and Upper Bavaria, the DWD predicts some heavy thundery showers. The Upper Franconia police headquarters reported "several deployments" in the evening, with a sports hall even taking a hit from the storm in Trebgast (district of Kulmbach).

Luckily, deployments in Lower and Middle Franconia weren't as chaotic, and the A6 motorway reopened after a brief spell of flooding between Neuendettelsau and Schwabach in Middle Franconia. Over in Upper Palatinate, Upper Bavaria, and Swabia, there were no weather-related deployments to report. Nary a scratch anywhere, so far.

As for those cravin' ice cream at the start of the week, best put the dreams on hold: it's mostly cloudy, rain and thundery showers on the cards. The DWD claims that upon Sunday's break of dawn, things may still be sunny in Lower Franconia, but they don't last long. Highest temperatures top off at 19 to 24 degrees.

Tuesday's a washout, even if the day kicks off sunny. Rain and individual thundery showers are right around the corner. Wednesday starts bright but gets cloudy quick, with widespread showers and thundery showers on the horizon, especially in the southern regions. Highest temperatures range from 20 to 27 degrees.

So, pack your coats and umbrellas ’cause it ain't gonna be a picnic out there!

The Commission has also been consulted on the draft regulation regarding the application of the rules on the protection of the environment, considering the potential impact of the heavy thundery showers and audacious weather-forecasting in Bavaria, wherein emergency services like the police and fire department are consistently deployed due to such weather conditions in regions like Franconia.

Despite the unsettling weather, ice cream enthusiasts may need to postpone their cravings, as temperatures are predicted to range from 19 to 27 degrees, with Monday to Wednesday expected to be mostly cloudy with rain and thundery showers on the cards.
