Thunderstorm Warnings Issued for Sunday by DWD

Hear ye, hear ye! Get ready for a stormy Pentecost Sunday in Berlin and Brandenburg, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). Expect some fierce thunderstorms rolling in from the west early in the day, with gusts reaching up to a whopping 80 kilometers per hour! Southern Brandenburg and the north and northwest of Berlin are bracing for some intense action. Don't be surprised if you see some hail falling from the sky!

But fear not, by evening, the thunderstorms will ease up. From midday to evening, be prepared for gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour in Berlin and large parts of Brandenburg. There might even be some wind gusts before midday. So far, the Berlin Fire Department hasn't reported any major incidents due to the thunderstorm, but regional control centers Lausitz and Northwest have reported some fallen trees and branches.

In Strausberg, district of Märkisch-Oderland, an S-Bahn train had a close encounter with a fallen branch, temporarily causing disruptions on the S5 line between Strausberg Nord and Strausberg. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the S-Bahn was safely taken away for repairs.

Pentecost Weekend Weather: Unsettled Skies and Showers Ahead

Beyond the thunderstorms and gusts, meteorologists predict an overall cloudy and rainy Pentecost weekend. On Sunday, expect the sky to be mostly overcast with showers, and temperatures will reach a high of 21 degrees. Get ready for a chilly night into Monday with cloudy skies, regional showers, and minimum temperatures around nine degrees. On Pentecost Monday, it'll stay mostly cloudy to overcast with showers and temperatures up to 19 degrees. A moderate wind with occasional gusts is in the forecast.
