In the heart of Berlin, the Straße des 17. Juni became a vibrant stage for the "Rave The Planet 2022" event, a gathering that blends electronic music culture with a powerful political message. This year's edition, part of the ongoing Rave The Planet movement, aimed to promote peace, love, and the protection of electronic dance music while emphasising community, freedom, diversity, and a sustainable future.
The event, which took place between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column, attracted thousands of participants, local and international ravers who danced together despite the dark clouds and heavy rain showers that renamed the event "Rain the Planet". The atmosphere was generally peaceful, focusing on unity and celebration rather than conflict or controversy.
Parallel to the techno spectacle, concerts at the Lollapalooza Festival in Westend and the Formula E race on the former airport grounds in Tempelhof also attracted thousands. Emergency services treated hundreds of people, including life-threatening injuries, and firefighters made more than 50 transports to hospitals. However, no explicit, credible reports were found about injuries or arrests during the 2022 Rave The Planet event or its recent editions in Berlin.
Environmental protection and waste reduction were concerns of the organisers. The event strongly emphasised environmental awareness and sustainability as part of its core message. The event, which had been planned for about 600 security personnel and up to 300 medical service helpers, was accompanied by approximately 1,000 police officers, including some from North Rhine-Westphalia. Six police officers were injured while attempting to make arrests or were attacked by revelers. The police made 45 criminal offenses recorded, including 7 dangerous and 11 simple bodily injuries, as well as 3 sexual offenses.
The 2025 event motto was "Our Future Is Now," reflecting a strong message about unity, diversity, and fighting for a sustainable future culturally and environmentally. Around 290 artists participated in the event, and the driver of a float during the "Rave The Planet" party was caught driving without a license.
