Thrilling sailing times beckon for the youth of Wesel
Wesel Sailing Trip: Adventure, Learning, and Teamwork Aboard Cutters and Flats
The Wesel Sailing Association turned this summer into an unforgettable learning experience for twelve young sailors, aged 11 to 17, as they journeyed to the picturesque Dutch province of Friesland. This adventure wasn’t just about sailing; it was a testament to the camaraderie, excitement, and knowledge the seas can offer.
Sailing Through the Lakes and Sea
Guided by seasoned trainers, the young sailors navigated two cutter-rigged boats and a polyvalk. The Friesian lakes and the imposing Ijsselmeer served as the perfect playground for sailing, providing a breathtaking backdrop that sent the hearts of the participants racing. Days at sea were filled with the thrill of wind, waves, and the intoxicating sensation of freedom that sailing can provide.
But sailing was just one part of their adventure. The group also visited a lovingly prepared campsite, where the WSA flag proudly waved. Meals were shared and stories swapped about the day’s adventures.
Weathering the Perfect Storm
The youth sailing trip to Warns was a rousing success, spearheaded by near-perfect weather conditions. It further illustrated the profound impact and enriching nature of such events, inspiring young minds for the sport of sailing and crafting unforgettable memories. The Wesel Sailing Association’s trip rekindled a passion for sailing while instilling the value of community and nature.
The youth division of the WSA frequently trains on the Auesee in Wesel during the summer months, welcoming new generation water-sports enthusiasts around the age of eight.
