Stuttgart's DFB Cup Victory Touches Emotional Chord for Maximilian Mittelstädt

Maximilian Mittelstädt, the defensive stalwart for VfB Stuttgart, felt a deep sense of emotion after securing the club's DFB Cup victory on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium Berlin. The 28-year-old, who was born in Berlin, confessed that the triumph was among the most significant moments of his career and life, in an interview with SWR.

A former regular for Berlin club Hertha BSC, Mittelstädt admitted that the victory in the historic stadium was "even more beautiful" than he had envisioned. He found the feeling to be scarcely comparable to any other he had experienced. VfB Stuttgart clinched the cup with a 4-2 win over underdogs Arminia Bielefeld.

The DFB Cup victory marked Stuttgart's fourth success in the tournament, following their victories in 1954, 1958, and 1997. As fans celebrated the triumphant return, there were rousing receptions at the airport, the town hall, a car parade through the city, and on the Schlossplatz.

Mittelstädt, who won the DFB Cup with Hertha in the A-junior category in 2015, acknowledged the immense work behind such a success. This was Stuttgart's first major title since they claimed the German championship in 2007. For the versatile player, it marked the second trophy of his career.

Throughout his career, the left-back has amassed an impressive 201 matches in the Bundesliga, winning 72 games and scoring five goals. He has also achieved 12 international caps for Germany. In the recent 2024-25 season, Mittelstädt showcased his prowess by registering a personal-best seven Bundesliga assists and topping the league in crosses, boasting a high accuracy rate.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of the environment, perhaps drawing inspiration from Maximilian Mittelstädt's passion for preserving his roots, as seen in his emotional DFB Cup victory in Berlin. Despite his busy schedule with football in European leagues and the Premier League, Mittelstädt might find time to advocate for environmental conservation, considering his love for his hometown.
