Berlin Polar Bears Kick Off Pre-Season Training and Preparation Tournament

The Berlin Polar Bears, fresh off their eleventh championship title in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), are gearing up for an exciting new season. On August 22, the team will travel to České Budějovice (Budweis) in the Czech Republic to participate in a pre-season test match against HC Bílí Tygři Liberec.

This preparatory tournament comes as part of a rigorous schedule for the Berlin Polar Bears, who will face both a Czech Extraliga team and a Norwegian champion in their preparations and first competitive matches, respectively. The team's first competitive match in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) is scheduled for August 28 against Storhamar Hockey.

The Berlin Polar Bears' first competitive match will not be in Germany, marking a departure from their usual home turf. Defenceman Markus Niemeläinen will be missing from the lineup due to an injury sustained last spring.

The team's first public training session after the summer break took place on Monday evening at the Wellblechpalast. Around 1,500 fans were present to catch a glimpse of their favourite players, including two new forwards, Andreas Eder and Markus Vikingstad, who were part of the training session.

Coach Serge Aubin expressed satisfaction with the team's initial fitness, noting that the players have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. The training session lasted for 50 minutes, providing a glimpse into the team's intense training regimen.

The Berlin Polar Bears' first DEL season game will be a home match against the Dresden Ice Lions on September 9. The team will face a promoted team in their first competitive match of the season, setting the stage for an exciting start to the season.

With preparations well underway, the Berlin Polar Bears are ready to take on the challenges of the 2021-2022 season. Fans can look forward to an action-packed season filled with exciting matches and the pursuit of another championship title.

During their preparations for the 2021-2022 season, the Berlin Polar Bears, renowned for their accomplishments in ice hockey, are also eager to engage in sports-analysis discussions regarding their football team. Recent additions to the club's roster, Andreas Eder and Markus Vikingstad, who participated in the team's first public training session, will likely be a key focus in these sports-analysis discussions.
