In remembrance of a difficult yet transformative event, the Bergisch Gladbach – Bucha Twinning Association takes us on a journey back to March 31, 2022, the day Bucha was liberated from Russian occupation. Three years later, we reflect on the resilience of the Bucha community as they rebuild their lives and forge ahead.

A contribution from the Bergisch Gladbach – Bucha Twinning Association

In their own words:

"The indomitable spirit of the Bucha people is awe-inspiring. They have shown determination and strength as they strive to regain control of their daily lives and look optimistically to the future," reflects Frank Haag, chairman of the Bergisch Gladbach – Bucha Twinning Association. "This drive demands our appreciation and support."

Since then, the association has been an essential part of their journey, providing essential aid and fostering connections. Over ten relief convoys have been organized, with the latest one en route. What matters isn't just what they bring, but the message they carry: We're here for you.

The bond between Bergisch Gladbach and Bucha has strengthened over time, not only through humanitarian aid but also through encounters. Youth from both cities have met twice, with another gathering planned for 2025. Delegations from Bucha have been welcomed in Bergisch Gladbach, sharing stories and building friendships.

This friendship thrives on open dialogue, shared experiences, and mutual actions. It's honest, genuine, and ongoing.

Individuals who wish to contribute to the association's efforts can find more information on www.butscha.gl.

A small jar of honey called "Honey for Bucha" is still available, a symbol of solidarity and impact.
