The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is all set to host a thrilling T20I tri-series featuring Afghanistan and Pakistan from August 29 to September 7 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. This tri-series serves as a preparation for the T20 Asia Cup, which the UAE will also host from September 9.

The T20 Asia Cup, initially scheduled for 2021, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is now set to return with the UAE as the host nation. The tournament will feature top teams in the format, including the UAE, as a build-up to the T20 World Cup early next year.

The tri-series consists of six group stage matches, followed by a final between the top two teams. The UAE will play against two powerhouses of T20 cricket in the tri-series, starting with the first match between Afghanistan and Pakistan on August 29. The match on September 2 will also be between Afghanistan and Pakistan, followed by the UAE's first match against Afghanistan on September 1.

The UAE national team has been in good form recently, having famously defeated Bangladesh in a T20 series in Sharjah in May. They also won four out of six matches in the Pearls of Africa T20 series in Uganda.

The T20 Asia Cup will see the UAE competing against India, Pakistan, Oman, and hosts UAE in Group A, while Group B consists of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. The top two teams from each group in the T20 Asia Cup will qualify for the Super 4 stage.

On August 30, UAE will play against Pakistan, followed by Pakistan's return match against UAE on September 4. The UAE and Afghanistan will face each other again on September 5. The final match of the T20I tri-series will take place on September 7 and will determine the winner of the series.

Match tickets and broadcast details for the tri-series will be announced over the next few days. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of international cricket to the UAE and the opportunity to witness the exciting matches at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
