The Verdi Festival in Parma, Italy, has kicked off with a bang, as the Street Parade titled "All the World's a Joke!" took over the city centre. The festival, now in full swing, also hosts an intriguing project, "You Killed Sleep," which is part of the Verdi Off commission.

"You Killed Sleep," housed in the Galleria San Ludovico, is a visual reinterpretation of the psychic pain and the night of Macbeth. Directed by Damiano Michieletto and Paolo Fantin, who are also the scenographers for this project, the exhibit is described as "destined to never end."

The project evokes a Scottish mist from which voices and sounds emerge. The time in "You Killed Sleep" is still and breathless, suggesting an impossible escape. This immersive experience will be accessible to visitors until October 19th.

In addition to "You Killed Sleep," the Galleria San Ludovico will also house a new commission for the Verdi Festival, separate from the main exhibit. The directors, Damiano Michieletto and Paolo Fantin, will also be responsible for this new project.

The Verdi Festival's current show, "All the World's a Joke!", promises to be a lively and entertaining spectacle. "You Killed Sleep," on the other hand, offers a more introspective and thought-provoking experience, inviting visitors to delve into the depths of Macbeth's psychological turmoil.

For those planning a visit to Parma during the festival, both "You Killed Sleep" and the Street Parade are must-see events, offering a unique blend of art, music, and theatrics. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!
