Illuminate Magdeburg Once Again: The Capital of Lights Returns

Prepare for a dazzling spectacle as Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt's shining gem, transforms into the capital of lights from November 27. Gather around as over one million brilliant LEDs illuminate the city, casting an even more enchanting glow over its attractions.

Besides the grandiose light displays that have captivated visitors since 2019, this year brings new installations to captivate your senses. Around Alter Markt, historical figures will be projected on facades, and a stunning Magdeburg logo will adorn Willy-Brandt-Platz.

Between Ulrichplatz and Ernst-Reuter-Allee, the portal of the Ulrichskirche church will be installed as a lighting element

Delight in the "smaller wonders" of light as new installations grace Ulrichplatz with the illuminated resurrection of the old church portal. A 1950s demolition left a void, but the "Kuratorium Ulrichskirche" association is working to breathe new life into this historical treasure.

Joining the illuminated fray, Ottersleben's citizens' association has crafted three adorable otter figures to go on display from November 29. And on December 1, at 5 pm, the Kosmospromenade will welcome the "fifth element" with its little worlds of light, courtesy of the "Bürgerverein Reform".

Magical Worlds of Light Arrive at Bergzoo Halle

On Wednesday, the Halle Mountain Zoo (Saxony-Anhalt) was transformed into a bustling shipping hub. Eight articulated lorries loaded with figurines touched down, heralding the arrival of the fourth edition of the "Magical Worlds of Light". From December 19 to February 24, 2024, patrons can lose themselves in the mesmerizing glow of the "1001 Nights" exhibition.

The zoo's magnificent two-kilometer circular route will boast hundreds of fairytale motifs, artfully crafted by artists from China and now nestled in Halle Mountain Zoo.

As a spokesperson for the mountain zoo declared, visitors should be ready for an unforgettable journey to the Orient, with tales of Sinbad the sailor, Aladdin's genie, and countless others ahead.

Ticket-holders can take advantage of discounted prices until December 18, so don't miss out on this magical experience.

Additionally, Magdeburg's Zoo Christmas market unveils a special treat: a "Christmas Market Hall," where local artisans will exhibit their unique creations this holiday season in Saxony-Anhalt.

While our sources provide an overview of European events and attractions, specific details about the Magdeburg Christmas market and its exhibitions can be found on event guides or the official Magdeburg Zoo website.
