Matthias Schweighöfer with too many wishes: This week's DVD highlights - Three must-watch films arrive on DVD and Blu-ray in late March 2025
Three new films will hit DVD and Blu-ray shelves at the end of March 2025. Among them is The Life of Wishes, a fantasy drama starring Matthias Schweighöfer, and a remake of the 1984 horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. A marital drama, And Then Life Happens, will also arrive the following day.
The Life of Wishes, based on Thomas Glavinic's novel, follows Felix, a man whose wishes begin coming true with unexpected results. Directed by Erik Schmitt (Cleo), the film explores the chaos that unfolds when desires take on a life of their own. Schweighöfer, known for his role as safecracker Ludwig Dieter in Army of Thieves and Army of the Dead, leads the cast. The DVD and Blu-ray release on March 26 will cost around €15.
The same day, a remake of *Silent Night, Deadly Night* arrives on DVD. This horror-comedy centres on Billy Chapman, a seemingly polite young man who turns into a murderous Santa Claus at Christmas. Produced in part by the team behind the *Terrifier* franchise, the film carries an FSK-18 rating. On March 27, *And Then Life Happens* releases on DVD. The marital drama stars Anke Engelke and Ulrich Tukur as a long-term couple facing new challenges when one partner nears retirement.
All three films will be available for home viewing by late March 2025. The Life of Wishes and Silent Night, Deadly Night share a release date, while And Then Life Happens follows the next day. Each offers a distinct genre, from fantasy and horror to drama.
