Large-Scale Events with Three Fan Zones, 2000 Police Officers: Grand Conclusion in Munich - Three major fan areas, over 2,000 law enforcement personnel, culminating event in Munich

Thousands of football enthusiasts from France and Italy are set to flock to Munich for the eagerly anticipated Champions League final this weekend. The city's sports department expects a slight Italian majority, primarily due to the convenience of rail travel from Milan to Munich. The Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) predicts around 90,000 overnight stays from out-of-town guests.

A somber reminder of the past lingers, as thirteen years ago, the city experienced collective sorrow after FC Bayern Munich succumbed to London's FC Chelsea in the "home final."

Three large fan zones will be established in the city, accommodating over 50,000 fans when Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain face off at the Allianz Arena in Fröttmaning on Saturday (9:00 PM/ZDF/DAZN). Approximately 25,000 people can gather at the "Champions Festival" in the Olympiapark, while up to 18,000 can celebrate or mourn at the "PSG Fan Meeting Point" on Königsplatz, and the "Inter Fanzone" at Odeonsplatz can accommodate up to 16,500 people. Both areas will open at 11:00 AM.

Security will be tight, with around 2,000 police officers being deployed to ensure the safety of the game and its related events. The Munich Police Presidency will receive support from officers across Bavaria. Although no specific threats have been reported, authorities acknowledged the heightened abstract risk associated with this international sporting event in light of the global political situation, including the Ukraine war and the Middle East conflict.

Fans are expected to spend lavishly in the city, with Munich's Economic Affairs Department estimating that the final will generate around 46.2 million euros in additional tourist revenue. Numerous events are planned throughout the week in Bavaria's capital, with a legends tournament taking place at the SAP Garden in the Olympic Park featuring former stars such as Franck Ribéry, Lothar Matthäus, and Luis Figo.

Due to security concerns about potential fan violence and the event's high profile, comprehensive and robust security measures were put in place. Over 2,000 police officers were dispatched, helicopters monitored the city and venue, riot police were quickly deployed to manage clashes between rival ultras, and extra patrol units were activated to maintain order.

Community aid is being mobilized to accommodate the influx of football fans from France, Italy, and other countries, with resources being directed towards providing food, shelter, and other essential services for the estimated 90,000 overnight guests. To alleviate the financial burden on visiting supporters, financial aid is being offered through various local initiatives, ensuring that every fan can enjoy the Champions League final and the other events scheduled in Munich.
