Three LA Chargers Players At Risk of Being Dropped Following 2025 Mini-Camp

Revamped Article:

Hell, the Chargers' minicamp is screwing up some players' dreams this year! With year two of Jim Harbaugh's tenure on the horizon, it's all about battling it out to secure those final roster spots. And, there are a few Chargers players that are teetering at the edge – they could get cut and end up on NFL free agency.

Listen up, 'cause here are the three Chargers players who better bring their A-game to the minicamp or risk getting left out in the cold!

Trey Pipkins III: Time to Dominate Minicamp

Make no mistake about it, minicamp is about veterans vs. rookies, and this year's isn't any different. Remember Trey Pipkins III, the offensive tackle the Chargers drafted in 2019? They moved him to offensive guard in 2024, but it's crucial for Pipkins to write his own damn destiny and earn that roster spot.

Pipkins has had a decent career so far, playing in 84 games and starting 56 of them. But last season, he only started all 17 games, and it looked like his career was on the mend, only for the Chargers to sign Mekhi Becton. Ouch! If Pipkins wants to keep his job, he needs to show he's better than Becton.

Pipkins sure as hell didn't impress the brass in 2024, with his overall grade of just 57.8, according to Pro Football Focus. That ain't good enough! Pipkins needs to step up and blow them all away during minicamp if he wants to prove he deserves a spot on the Chargers roster.

There's a small chance he gets cut, especially if Jamaree Salyer shows something more. This battle in minicamp is gonna be fierce!

Eric Rogers: Prove You're Worthy of a Chargers Roster Spot

With the Chargers' roster solid at secondary, there's a limited number of open spots left. Eric Rogers, an undrafted free agent from Rutgers in 2025, is right at the bottom of the depth chart and needs to work his ass off to climb it. He better show the coaching staff that he's a damn good player, or he'll find himself on NFL free agency.

The Chargers took a chance on Rogers, but it's looking like he might not make the team. At this point, lyin' on the practice squad might be the best-case scenario for ol' Rogers. If that's the case, Los Angeles might waive him and then sign him, but on a contract that specifies he's only on the practice squad, damn it! Rogers needs to get his shit together and knock the coaching staff's socks off during minicamp! It's gonna be a tough road for Rogers, but he better find a way to make it happen. If he doesn't, he can kiss his NFL dreams goodbye.

Brenden Rice: Time to Shine & Prove He's Not His Dad's Shadow

It's not easy being the son of a goddamn NFL legend. For Brenden Rice, though, it's even tougher 'cause he ain't quite living up to his dad's standards yet. Everybody knows Jerry Rice, right? The Chargers drafted Brenden in the seventh round in 2024, and he had an intense training camp to make the team. But he only played in three games and failed to record a catch. Now, he needs to step it up and show why he deserves a spot on the Chargers roster!

Rice better have one hell of a minicamp and preseason to have a shot at making the roster, or he might end up on the practice squad – and it ain't a guarantee even there! He better prove he's improved from year one to year two if he wants to make the Chargers' roster.

The Chargers have plenty of receivers ahead of him, so he'll need to work his ass off to prove he's worth a spot. It's time for Brenden Rice to step out from his dad's shadow and make a name for himself!

In summary, these three Chargers players better bring their damn A-game to minicamp or they risk losing their jobs. There's a lot of other talented players gunning for their spots, so they need to be ready to compete. This year's minicamp will be hot as hell in Costa Mesa, California, but it's going to be exciting to see which players rise to the occasion and make the NFL roster!

  1. Trey Pipkins III and Eric Rogers, both Chargers players, need to dominate the minicamp to secure their roster spots, as NFL free agency looms for those who underperform.
  2. Brenden Rice, the son of NFL legend Jerry Rice, drafted by the Chargers in 2024, must utilize the minicamp to distance himself from his father's shadow and prove that he deserves a spot on the team, lest he winds up on the practice squad or finds himself cut from the NFL entirely.
