Three individuals, including songwriter Brett James, lost their lives in a tragic plane crash that occurred in North Carolina.

A tragic plane crash occurred in Franklin, North Carolina, around 3 p.m. local time on Thursday. The incident took place on a property adjacent to the Iotla Valley Elementary School, but fortunately, students and staff at the school were all reported safe.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office provided information about the location of the plane crash to Asheville ABC affiliate WLOS. The plane involved in the crash was a Cirrus SR22T. Sadly, three people were on board at the time of the crash, and none of them survived.

One of the victims was Brett James, a renowned songwriter with over 20 years of experience in the music industry. Known for his work primarily in country and pop music, James was a prolific songwriter who had co-written Carrie Underwood's hit song "Jesus, Take the Wheel." This song won Grammy Awards for best country song and best female country vocal performance.

James, who was 57 years old, had also written songs for other artists such as Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, and Jason Aldean. Born in Columbia, Missouri, in 1968, James had a significant impact on the country music scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the plane crash. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide further updates. As of now, no specific cause for the crash has been announced.

No information about the identity of the other two people on the plane at the time of the crash has been released. Our thoughts are with their families and friends during this difficult time.
