Teenage Suspect Released; Three Men Arrested Over Deadly Uppsala Shootings
Three individuals detained following violent firearm incident in Uppsala
Let's set the scene right: Three blokes are popping cigarettes outside a barbershop in Uppsala, Sweden, when all hell breaks loose – pow, pow, pow! Three innocent souls are gunned down in cold blood, leaving behind fluorescent pools of blood on the pavement.
You might remember the initial chaos, when cops nabbed a 16-year-old, erroneously pinning the crime on him as the muckety-muck of this tragic tragedy. Fast-forward to today: the teen's been given the ol' heave-ho, with the prosecutor and lead investigator, Andreas Nyberg, pinning the suspicion on three men instead.
Break it Down: 16 Year Old Freed; Three Men Held Out of the arena now, we've got a man in his 20s who's been cuffed for allegedly committing homicide (R.I.P. to the victims). Two other lads, approximately 25 and 35, have been scooped up for aiding and abetting in this bloody murder.
These staggering events unfolded late Tuesday, with the victims being aged between 15 and 20 years old. Eventually, the 16-year-old was picked up from his humble abode Wednesday morning, after authorities grilled witnesses and swabbed evidence in the course of their protracted investigation.
As the Swedish cops continue their inquiry, they've got their sights set on the escalating gang crime that's been plaguing the country for quite some time[1]. Several young lads, including the deceased victims[2], have been drawn into this vicious cycle of crime as perpetrators and victims in the context of gang violence.
